easy like sunday morning
it's been a while but this weekend we got our internet fixed! it's been a nice day, very slow and lazy. woke up late, ate, had a nap.
when i was little, i thought bob marley's song no woman no cry was telling someone if they had no woman they shouldn't cry. then i realized really recently that it was actually no, woman, no cry. not no woman, no cry.
that's the end of that.
i bought a lot of music this past week. i like amazon a lot better than itunes. it's cheaper a lot of the time eventhough they have less selection.
i don't have anything else to say. i thought of all these funny things this week to write about but now i don't remember them.

this is why you should research anything you are going to name. ever. uku means flea (or lice or ticks or that kind of gross thing) in hawaiian. ukulele means 'jumping flea' because when the instrument was brought to the islands, the players' fingers moved so fast it was like jumping fleas.
so, ukuladies is cute, but uh it's kind of gross. like lice infested ladies.
oh well.
for them.
hahahaha.
i like this joshua radin guy. i like his voice. yep, amazon purchase!

i like this bus.

sweet sentiments
so, we've moved! yeah, actually it's been quite a while, but we didn't have internet for a long time and ever since we got it it's been on the fritz. not reliable at all. in fact, i'm using someone else's internet in our building right now to write this.
i just thought it was about time i put something else up. i like this song. it's old school and sweet. i love aaron neville. his 'crazy love' is one of my absolute favorite songs. ever.
'i don't know much, but i know i love you, and that may be all i need to know.'
isn't that lovely? they don't write songs that sweet anymore. now you just take an object (cyclone, helicopter, dog, salt shaker, polaroid) and tell the listeners to um move like it.
speaking of sweet, it was my parents' 30th anniversary this past week. it jsut warms my heart, i mean 30 years. that's a lot. you know what they did to celebrate? they saw kung fu panda at the dollar theater and ate at p.f. chang's because they had a buy one get one free coupon.....
i know. here's to celebrating 30 years.
but then i thought, i guess after 30 years, i'd be happy with just a cheap dinner and a movie. i mean, at that point it really isn't what you do, it's who you're with, and that's all you need to know.

goodbye les
it's 11:30pm and i'm looking around at my tiny room. i meant to post yesterday but i was so tired i fell asleep at around 10. tonight i spent most of my free hours packing up boxes, luggage and dismantling my shitty ikea wardrobe. it is scary and stupid that i climbed on that thing more than once now that i see what it's made of. tomorrow more packing and then friday, the move!
i feel a little sad that we're moving, even though we've only lived here for a year and we're moving 15 blocks away and this is the tiniest apartment ever. it's my first real apartment so i guess i can be nostalgic about it even if sometimes it didn't feel so much like a real apartment but more like a doll house. you know that geico commercial that used to run that was about a fake reality show called "tiny house?"
i remember i totally believed it was a show because it came out at the same time that that bachelor-like show about the dwarf was on. anyway, sometimes i feel like we live in that house. and now we're leaving :o(
it's crazy how fast things happen when you aren't paying attention.
today i listened to the pirates of the carribbean sp? that looks wrong.... soundtrack four times. that's all i listened to. it's an amazing soundtrack. it makes me feel like i'm really DOING something, even though i'm just walking down the street to the train. it makes that kind of trip feel epic.
just wanted to post a quick song, i've been really digging stevie wonder's not so mainstreamed stuff. wish i posted this yesterday cause it's called tuesday heartbreak but alas, i didn't.
bon appetit

follow up
fashion changes, it's true darien commented on, but i was thinking about clarissa's outfit for the intro:

clarissa is a hipster? y/n?
i mean, the tights? skirt? top? she just needs a big belt and some ironic sunglasses that wouldn't be ironic for her because they'd be from the '90s which is double ironic which would count for double hipster points!

hey, cool!
i love tv.
i have always loved tv.
i used to do my homework in front of the living room tv, and when i got kicked off of that i went to my room and turned on this old school watchman black and white portable tv, hid it behind my backpack, put my earphones on and did my homework in front of that.
ultimately, often my favorite part of a good tv show was its theme song. there is something beautiful about a theme song. it's so quick, ephemeral if you will, and sets the entire mood for the show. it gets you excited to watch your favorite show, or cues you to change the channel quickly (like when the match lighting when 'are you afraid of the dark')
the theme song is like a trumpeter announcing royalty, except it says 'hey! get ready to sit here for another half an hour to an hour!'
sometimes, i would only watch the theme song for a show, then change the channel. for example, murder she wrote. amazing theme song. i loved it. it was so exciting. i loved watching the opening credits too, because i love typewriters. but, i could never sit still for an hour of an elderly lady solving crime. another one was saved by the bell, man, what an exciting theme song! i'd watch the occasional episode, but i'd rather have heard the theme song for a half hour instead of the show sometimes.
there were theme songs i loved just as much as the shows that followed, though. macgyver, fresh prince of bel air (um yeah, i memorized that rap, did you even have to ask?), the nanny, golden girls, friends....it goes on and on. in fact, i'm having a lot of trouble thinking of a show that i absolutely hated the theme song for....i wanna say growing pains, but actually i just hated the show, i loved the theme song. in any case, the other day, i was (somehow through the magic of link hopping on the internet you know how it is, click, click, click, ack! porn! click, click, click) presented with this video:
yes, clarissa explains it all. it was a good show, not one of my favorites, mostly it made me want a two story house so that my friends could visit via ladder. anyway, i did enjoy the opening credits as i recall, and when i listened to this theme song again i realized just what the lyrics were.
"na na na na na"
"all right, all right"
more nananas (there are so many nananas i'm not going to type them all)
"hey cool"
more nanas
more all right all rights
more hey cool
and finally
"just do it"
.......
yeah, don't believe me? listen to it again.
i can't tell if it's brilliant or sad or just ridiculous. most likely it is a combination of all three with a dash of stupid and a pinch of laughable/endearing. the best part was that when i played it i could sing along. and yeah, hell yeah, if you want to know,
i love it.
i like this song by duffy. i couldn't decide if i liked her or not for several months. in the end, i decided i did like her, but i think this bonus track is my favorite.
it's good, right? just lovely. nothing to do with anything i was babbling about, but whatever. i do what i want.
